Mwanyengela Ngali

Ambassador Ngali, who died at 68, served as Kenya's envoy to the United States, Uganda, Canada and Britain before serving as Kenya's Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy between 1999 and 2001. In 2013, he unsuccessfully contested for the Taita Taveta gubernatorial seat.

Ambassador Ngali exhibited a rare sense of professionalism and dedication in his public service career, standing out as a diplomat extraordinaire. Whether meeting the Queen of England at the Buckingham Palace, seeking out investors during the Washington, D.C. posting or tending Kenya’s interests deep in the desert sands of Saudi Arabia, he was always true to his calling – representing and defending his country with all his might. It is this persona that endeared him to friend and foe alike.
